Accessibility and Usability
Web for everybody
This is an extremely important issue to have in mind when you launch a Web Site. Being able to access a web site from any media is fundamental, today more than ever, taking into account the vast amount of mobile devices available, such as cellphones, Palms, Smartphones, notebookes and all those about to be released. That's why it's paramount to have all Web Sites working flawlessly in any device, considering their possibilities and limitations. Not only is the device something to consider, but also the possibility to allow visually and auditory handicapped people to access the information, or even people with external circumstances that make it difficult to access the information.
Considering all this when you build a Web Site is thinking about accessibility. And thinking about accessibility is talking about social inclusion.
Taking into account a Web Site as a piece of communication, considering its distribution and layout, we must consider what a user expects from the platform he's visiting and its contents, and what the user estimates of each of the elements of the Web Site. Developing buttons that don't work as such, or links that are not visible as such, results in a deorientation and later frustration for the user while trying to find information. In the worst-case scenario its probable that the user closes the browser window and forgets or rejects the information in it. At this point, the act of communication is considered a failure, since nor the company's message was interpreted by the user, or even the information he was looking for was even happily found. Stablishing in advance a possible target, being ahead of what the user looks for and having in mind the basic notions of Usability are fundamental if we expect to achieve a satisfactory feedback from the users.
